City of Los Angeles Emergency
Preparedness Department
American Red Cross

On behalf of the American Red Cross, Cheviot Hills resident
Kevin Coombs spoke to the CHHA Board about Family Emergency
Preparedness. Kevin’s good
news is that Los Angeles
has a strong emergency plan in place due our ongoing work regarding the
ever-present threat of earthquakes.
The Red Cross most strongly
recommends that each family make every effort to store enough water and
emergency supplies for at least a week.
The safest place for your family would most likely be in or near your
home as designated shelters will not be available immediately. Pamphlets on what to do are available
through the Red Cross. For the most current information he
suggests that you contact the program "Together We Prepare"
at (800) 627 7000.
