STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Cheviot Hills Homeowners Association (CHHA) is
a non-profit incorporated association whose sole purpose is "to promote
and maintain" the quality of life in Cheviot Hills
for the benefit of all who live here. The association, through its elected
15-member Board of Directors, aggressively attacks any and all issues that
may or do threaten our community. These range from constant headaches with
Fox Studios' expansion and attendant traffic problems, to low flying aircraft
on final approach to Santa Monica Airport, another office tower for Century
City, crime and safety, neighborhood beautification, graffiti removal, and
attempted zoning changes, to mention some of the obvious problems and/or
efforts in which the Board is involved. We also support our local our
schools, police and fire fighters.
The CHHA represents 1,450 households in Cheviot Hills making it one of the largest organized
homeowner groups on the Westside. The association's efforts to maintain the
residential nature of Cheviot Hills are
funded by voluntary annual dues of $35 per household. The money collected by
the association's annual dues drive is used, for example, to pay for legal
representation; consultants; flyers, mailers and newsletters on important
issues; meetings of the association; our web site; beautification of our
schools; and to support various projects with the West LA Division of the
LAPD to increase police effectiveness.

The Association, through its Board, maintains
close contacts with elected federal, state, county and city officials whose
decisions affect our way of life in Cheviot Hills.
We also keep close tabs on businesses in the area to try to make sure that
their decisions do not harm this unique and special community.
The Board of Directors is elected annually at a
meeting of the membership in the fall. All members of the Board are residents
of Cheviot Hills and serve without
compensation. The Board meets once a month, sometimes more frequently when
warranted, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Riddick Center
on Ashby Avenue
at Overland.
Board meetings are open to the public.
Membership on our various committees is not
restricted to Board members. If you are interested in helping us maintain Cheviot Hills' unique qualities, please contact us at
the above.
